Resumen

Las creencias religiosas son fundamentales en la búsqueda del sentido de la vida, especialmente en los momentos más críticos de esta, como es su final. Con este trabajo se pretende conocer la influencia de las creencias religiosas en la toma de decisiones clínicas al final de la vida. Para conseguir este objetivo se ha realizado una revisión bibliográfica descriptiva y una reflexión teórica sobre el tema de estudio. Las religiones cristiana, islámica, judía, budista e hinduista rechazan la eutanasia y el suicidio asistido. Sin embargo, son más permisivas respecto a la adecuación del esfuerzo terapéutico y el rechazo de tratamientos desproporcionados. Las creencias religiosas influyen de forma importante en la toma de decisiones clínicas en el proceso final de la vida.

Abstract

Religious beliefs are fundamental in the search for the meaning of life, especially in its most critical moments, such as its end. The aim of this work was to understand the influence of religious beliefs in clinical decision-making at the end of life. To achieve this objective, a descriptive bibliographic review and a theoretical reflection on the subject of study have been permormed. The Christian, Islamic, Jewish, Buddhist and Hindu religions reject euthanasia and assisted suicide. However, decision about the adecuacg of therapeutic effort and the rejection of disproportionate treatments are more permissive in these religions. Religious beliefs have an important influence on clinical decision-making in the end-of-life process.
