"Sanidad Moral y Física" (1930), compendio esencial de Ellen G. White, cofundadora del Adventismo del Séptimo Día, se erige como un hito bibliográfico en la concepción holística del bienestar. Forjada en el crisol de sus padecimientos y revelaciones místicas, y en resonancia con la efervescencia reformista sanitaria decimonónica, la obra postula la transgresión moral como génesis primordial de la dolencia, elevando la adhesión a preceptos éticos y la devoción Crística a pilares ineludibles de la plenitud vital. Subraya la primacía de la profilaxis y propugna un decálogo de vida que incluye una pauta alimentaria fitocéntrica, la actividad física, el recurso a paliativos naturales y una probidad conductual. Concebido para una audiencia dual, desde el lego hasta el facultativo, su impronta se extiende, cincelando el ethos adventista y erigiendo bastiones de salubridad. No obstante, el análisis contextual desvela cómo esta imbricación de fe y salud, si bien propició avances, también ha sido objeto de escrutinio por su potencial instrumentalización en dinámicas de poder socioeconómico y político, donde la medicalización asume roles antes adscritos a la esfera religiosa.

Forged in the crucible of her suffering and mystical revelations, and in resonance with the fervor of nineteenth-century health reform, the work posits moral transgression as the primordial genesis of illness, elevating adherence to ethical precepts and Christ-like devotion to essential pillars of vital fulfillment. It emphasizes the primacy of prophylaxis and advocates a ten-point plan of life that includes a phytocentric diet, physical activity, the use of natural palliatives, and behavioral integrity. Conceived for a dual audience, from the layperson to the physician, its imprint extends, shaping the Adventist ethos and erecting bastions of health. However, contextual analysis reveals how this interweaving of faith and health, while leading to progress, has also been subject to scrutiny for its potential instrumentalization in socioeconomic and political power dynamics, where medicalization assumes roles previously assigned to the religious sphere.
