Conocimiento farmacológico de estudiantes de enfermería sobre medicación en pacientes en estado crítico

Resumen

Objetivo principal: Determinar el nivel de conocimiento farmacológico de estudiantes de enfermería pertenecientes a dos universidades públicas de los estados de Nuevo León y Coahuila, México, sobre la medicación en pacientes en estado crítico. Metodología: Estudio cuantitativo, transversal, descriptivo y comparativo. Muestra conformada por 60 estudiantes de cuarto año de Licenciatura en Enfermería. El conocimiento farmacológico se evaluó mediante un cuestionario de conocimientos farmacológicos para enfermeras de cuidados críticos (α = 0.80). Resultados principales: La puntuación promedio de conocimiento farmacológico fue ligeramente mayor en la universidad pública de Coahuila (M = 37.12; DE = 12.30) que en la universidad pública de Nuevo León (M = 35.38; DE = 15.19); sin embargo, la diferencia no fue estadísticamente significativa (t(58) = −0.503; p = .61). Conclusión principal: Se identificó un bajo nivel de conocimiento farmacológico en los estudiantes de enfermería de ambas universidades, sin encontrarse diferencias estadísticamente significativas entre las instituciones.

Resumo

Objective: To determine the level of pharmacological knowledge among nursing students from two public universities in the states of Nuevo León and Coahuila, Mexico, regarding medication management in critically ill patients. Methods: Quantitative, cross-sectional, descriptive, and comparative study was conducted. The sample consisted of 60 fourth-year undergraduate nursing students. Pharmacological knowledge was assessed using a pharmacological knowledge questionnaire for critical care nurses (α = 0.80). Results: The mean pharmacological knowledge score was slightly higher among students from the public university in Coahuila (M = 37.12; SD = 12.30) than among students from the public university in Nuevo León (M = 35.38; SD = 15.19); however, the difference was not statistically significant (t(58) = −0.503; p = .61). Conclusions: A low level of pharmacological knowledge was identified among nursing students at both universities, with no statistically significant differences between institutions.
